India’s document fraud crisis

₹22,845 Cr lost to cyber fraud in 2024 — a 206% surge year over year (Ministry of Home Affairs, Parliament data).

1,81,553 forgery, cheating and fraud cases recorded (NCRB, Crime in India 2023).

90% of bank frauds are detected in previous fiscal years — manual verification is structurally broken.

Register

Your department app uploads a PDF through a single API call. DocVerify generates a SHA-256 hash in memory and the PDF is immediately deleted — zero storage, nothing to leak.

Blockchain Record

The hash and its metadata are stored permanently on the blockchain and a QR code is generated with a unique verification URL. Immutable — it cannot be altered, deleted or forged by anyone, including you.

Public QR Verify

Any citizen scans the QR code with any phone and gets an instant result — VALID, EXPIRED, REVOKED or NOT FOUND — in English or a regional language. No app to install.

How It Works

  1. 01

    Upload PDF

The department app sends a PDF via a single API call. A SHA-256 hash is generated in-memory and the PDF is immediately deleted — zero storage.

  2. 02

    Blockchain Record

Hash and metadata are stored on the blockchain. A QR code is generated with a unique verification URL. Immutable forever.

  3. 03

    Citizen Verifies

Anyone scans the QR on any smartphone for instant status: VALID / EXPIRED / REVOKED / NOT FOUND, with bilingual support.

The Numbers

₹0.35

per document cost

Polygon blockchain registration — 1000x cheaper than Ethereum mainnet.

<2s

verification time

p95 response for public QR verification on any device, any network.

100%

tamper detection

Any document modification changes the SHA-256 hash — fraud is detected instantly.

10,000+

docs per day

System capacity on just 2 servers, with a horizontal scaling path.

DocVerify Blockchain

Property tax / NOC
Fake NOCs for illegal transactions. Manual verification takes 2-5 days.
Birth / death certificates
Forged certificates for age fraud and school admissions. No easy verification.
Land records
Tampered sale deeds and forged encumbrance certificates. Title disputes last decades.

Frequently asked questions

Both run the same platform, the same API and the same admin portal — you switch by configuration, with zero code changes. Choose public Polygon for the fastest deployment and cross-state citizen verification; it carries variable gas fees. Choose sovereign NIC Vishvasya for zero gas fees, government-authorized validators only, and full alignment with MeitY’s National Blockchain Framework. Onboarding there runs through the NIC empanelment process.

Yes. The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023 — India’s Evidence Act — explicitly recognises SHA-256 hash values and blockchain records as legally admissible evidence in Indian courts.

No. Processing is in-memory only: the PDF is never written to disk and is deleted immediately after the hash is generated. Only the hash goes on-chain. This hash-only architecture inherently satisfies the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.

Changing even one pixel in the original PDF produces a completely different SHA-256 hash. Because the original hash is immutable on-chain, any modification makes verification fail instantly — the document reports as NOT FOUND rather than VALID.

Yes. More than 34 crore documents have been verified on India’s National Blockchain Framework as of 2025, which MeitY launched with a ₹64.76 Cr budget across three NIC data centres. DocVerify plugs into that same sovereign stack.

Integrations

Dual deployment: the public Polygon network or the sovereign NIC Vishvasya stack — same platform, same API, same admin portal, switched by configuration with zero code changes.

Legally grounded under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023, which recognises SHA-256 hashes as admissible evidence, and DPDP Act 2023-aligned by design: the hash-only architecture means no document ever leaves your systems.

One API call from any government application — property tax, birth certificates, fire NOC, water tax, or your RTS portal.
